New Salem and Parkside are actually 2 separate communities, but for all practical purposes they are on the same road and most people think they are the same community. The communities are just off the Lacawac Road, which is adjacent to St Mary’s Road in Ledgedale.
The communities are strictly lakefront and second tier homes only, with the 510 acre Lacawac Sanctuary surrounding the subdivisions. All the lakefront homes are on Salem Park Lane, which is a dead end road. This 1 ½ mile road makes for a private and secluded lakefront setting with most homes facing in a westerly direction.
New Salem and Parkside has a total of 91 properties with 30 lakefront homes. Lake frontage ranges from an average 75’ to up to 200’ in width, with some properties being steep and some ultra level.
New Salem is in Salem Township, Wayne County and is part of the Western Wayne School District, while Parkside is in Paupack Township, Wayne County and is in the Wallenpaupack Area School District.
