Spinnler’s Point is a very special community. It is best known for not having a “PPL Project Line.” Back in the 1920’s when PPL was purchasing all of the 100 properties to construct the lake for hydro-electric power, the Spinnler family refused to sell-out to PPL, so all the lakefront property boundary lines in Spinnler’s Point go right to the shoreline. This means the lakefront homes there can cut trees right to the shoreline and build their homes closer to the lake.
Spinnler’s Point is just west of the intersection of Route 390 and Route 507 in Tafton. The community has 32 lakefront homes on Shore Road with easterly and northern exposures that look across the lake at the PPL dam and dike. All the lakefront homes have level approaches to the lake with many high profile homes.
Spinnler’s Point has 120 homes, a number of well maintained lakefront access areas with picnic tables, a beach and 76 boat slips. Spinnler’s Point is in Palmyra Township, Pike County and is in the Wallenpaupack Area School District.
